Billy Wayne Wilson, 70, passed away on April 11, 2025, in Greeneville, Tennessee. He was born on November 3, 1954, in Pineville, Kentucky, but lived most of his life in Auburn Hills, Michigan- graduating from Avondale High School in 1972. Billy lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and a passion for music and cars.
Billy spent three decades working as an engineer and mechanic for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan. His career reflected not only his technical skill but also his commitment to excellence and hard work. He retired in 2002 after 30 years of service.
He was known by those around him as funny, kind, and loving—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether sharing a laugh or lending a helping hand, Billy brought warmth and humor into the lives of others.
Billy had a lifelong love of music—especially classic rock—and found joy in the rhythm and energy it brought to everyday life. He also had a deep appreciation for cars, both as part of his profession and as a personal passion.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister Vanessa Hunley; former wife Mary Jo St. Clair; son and daughter-in-law Brad and Nicky Wilson, son and daughter-in-law Cameron and Jade Wilson, son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Jaime Wilson; daughter Shelby Wilson, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Nick Filarelli; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Brandon Collins, and stepdaughter Shelby Wise. Billy was also a proud grandfather to Ethan, Natalie, Lucas, Killian, Godric, and Gavin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Wilson; brother Teddy Wilson; father Sturl Wilson; and mother Lawanna Cox Wilson.
A private memorial service will be held for the family at a later date.
