Perry James Larimer found peace on September 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Larimer of Memphis; his daughter, Samantha Brooke Hirte; and his granddaughter, Eleanor Logan Vick, both of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Patti Young; brother-in-law, Phil Young; and nephew, Benjamin Young, all of Maryville, Tennessee. Additionally, Perry is survived by many other family members, friends, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Logan Sierra Larimer; and his mother, Shirley Snowiss Larimer.
Perry attended the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate degree and earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Health Sciences in 1971. He completed his Urology residency in Memphis and was certified by the American Board of Urology. He was also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Perry joined a private urology practice before co-founding the Conrad Pearson Clinic, formerly known as the Urology Center of the South, on November 1, 1996. He remained in practice there until his death. Perry was a lifelong learner, driven to further his knowledge in the field of urology and eager to share that knowledge with others. He found joy and passion in performing da Vinci robotic surgeries and mentoring colleagues.
Perry was not your typical physician; he wore jeans and a collared shirt to work every day and was rarely seen in a white coat. He could often be spotted in the hospital making rounds on nights and weekends, dressed in his golf, biking, or birding attire. It was not uncommon for Perry to give out his personal contact information to patients and their family members, who found great comfort in the personalized care they received from Dr. Larimer.
When not at work, Perry could be found golfing, biking, birdwatching, gardening, or restoring antique clocks in his clock room. In his younger years he also enjoyed sailing competitively on his Hobie 16 Cat, and traveling the world. He enjoyed sharing these interests and hobbies with those closest to him, often involving friends and family in his activities. Perry also cherished his time spent with two groups of incredibly close friends. He regularly ate lunch with a group who dubbed themselves the ROMEOs (Really Old Men Eating Out) and found mischief with another group known as The Usual Suspects.
Perry’s family and closest friends will hold a private burial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Larimer Family STEM Fund at Lausanne Collegiate School, supporting Perry and Logan’s shared passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
